Ingredient name
Aloe Vera juice
INCI name
ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE
Aloe vera, a member of the lily family, is a spiky, succulent, perennial plant. It is grown in extremely dry climates in parts of Africa, America, Asia and Europe.
Aloe Vera leaves are made up of 99% water. They also contain vitamins C and E, minerals (zinc, chromium, magnesium, silicon, calcium, potassium, manganese, and copper) as well as over 20 amino acids and polysaccharides, which care for the skin. The polysaccharides in particular have a super moisturising effect.
Aloe Vera juice is absorbed by the skin quicker than water, thereby enabling the necessary amount of moisture to remain in the skin’s outer layer. Aloe Vera has strong anti-inflammatory properties, and reduces redness caused by various types of skin damage including UV rays. It accelerates cell regeneration and forms a protective barrier on the skin.
Aloe Vera rarely causes allergic reactions making it suitable for use in a wide range of cosmetic products for dry skin. The body responds well to Aloe Vera juice as the properties it contains are similar to those found naturally in the skin.

Scientific evidence
[1] Vitamins A (beta-carotin), C and E which are found in Aloe Vera are powerful antioxidants and together with folic acid and choline they neutralise free radicals. Enzymes (lipase, alkaline phosphate, amylase, etc.) in turn reduce inflammation when applied locally on the skin. Aloe Vera juice contains properties which protect against UV radiation and also stimulate the production of collagen and elastane.
