Ingredient name
Caffeine
INCI Name
CAFFEINE
Caffeine is a neurostimulating agent that is part of the methylxanthine class. Recently, it became one of the top ingredients in the beauty industry. The main active substance is an alkaloid found in plants. It is extracted from cola fruits, coffee beans and tea leaves.
When applied to the skin, caffeine stimulates various processes in cells: fat breakdown, cellular regeneration, fluid metabolism and many more. Due to their very small size, caffeine molecules penetrate deep into the skin — reaching the subcutaneous fat in a matter of just a few minutes. This makes caffeine one of the most popular ingredients in skincare combating puffiness, cellulite, dull complexion, and age-related changes. It is also often used in products combating body fat.
Caffeine in eye area skincare prevents puffiness, effectively combats undereye bags and makes the skin appear tighter and younger.
Caffeine is also suitable for those with dry skin, due to its ability to stimulate synthesis of cholesterol - a lipid necessary to create a protective layer on the epidermis surface. It helps the skin to recover - after a sunburn for example, - faster by stimulating regeneration processes.
